As a Formula One fanatic, it was exciting to be given the chance to design the index and story pages that were a popular part of BBC Sport's offering.
The design was built using an old CMS template, pre-BBC’s Global Visual Language (soon to followed by the Global Experience Language, GEL).

The template was limiting in its customizability but I was able to push the engineers to deliver a 'premium' feel via a dark visual layer that, at the time, suited the sport and the graphics that accompanied the television offering. This was the first non-white experience which allowed the F1 experience to stand out.
To give the user a comfortable reading experience, we retained the white story pages.
At the time, an auto-updating live experience, following the track action, was relatively new. I was able to incorporate live video, multiple audio options, text commnetary and live leaderboard... along with an aggregated weather widget from my previous role.

Post-race index
With the various stages of a race weekend needing to be represented, the index page needed to be able to flex to allow for the various states to be displayed.
Circuit guides were an integral part of the experience. Working with an external partner, we offered an interactive experience to give users the ability to explore all tracks.
