There are a number of points in my career that I consider to be core to my development. My time at BBC Childrens is one that I would say was formative. Working in an environment and team where we were given the space to explore, and stretch, the bounds of what was creatively possible, back in the early 2000s, couldn’t have been better.
Working at BBC’s Television Centre, with its decades of history and access to studio sets, allowed me to draw inspiration from the shows being filmed there on a daily basis and absorb the essence of the subject matter—delivering experiences for a young customer that was not shy with their feedback.
The following are a few pieces of my work from CBBC and CBeebies.
At the time, we as product designers, were responsible for so many aspects of delivery—from research, ideation, information architecture, wireframing, and visual and content design—from developing Flash games for children with disabilities, designing companion brand sites, and interviewing stars for online content.
